Who wants to be a croupier

Becoming a croupier can be a fun and exciting job where you get to meet a lot of people. But what most people don't understand is that croupiers must understand their games inside out. For example if you want to be a croupier the video poker section of the casino you must know the basic strategy for all variations of video poker. In addition you must know the odds of each play and situation when playing any videopokers. 

At first this might not sound so challenging but it does requires some basic maths and more importantly memorization. If you want to find out just play at a blackjack or roulette table and ask your croupier as many questions as you can think of. You will realize that these dealers know their game inside out and can give you answers without hestitation. The same situation applies for video poker, just ask the dealer what are the odds of hitting a royal flush with 3 to a royal. Once you know the odds ask them what is the proper play for that situation. Of course don't ask them to help you with every hand but do it a few times and you'll realize that they have over 50 players memorized that make up basic strategy for video poker.

So if you want to be a croupier you must study the rules of the game and more importantly practise so you know how to play.

My roulette dealer training

Last week I did training to be a roulette dealer but I didn’t enjoy it so much. I have the option to take over for a few people who are leaving soon but I really feel at home on the blackjack tables. I have met a lot of friends at the tables and many of the players know me by name and some won’t even play unless they know I’m dealing. It is very flattering to know and it makes my job more enjoyable.

Yesterday while dealing a few wealthy ladies were betting large hands on the blackjack tables. I don’t think they were card counters because they made enough incorrect plays that would have cost too much money. Almost all blackjack dealers are taught the principles of card counting and more importantly how to spot them.

While betting $400 per hand I deal one of the ladies four consecutive blackjacks. I was amazed and so was she and she gave me a very nice tip for I guess having that magic touch.

Next week our staff have a meeting to discuss the upcoming World Series of Poker. This tournament takes place in Las Vegas every summer but casinos all around the world get more poker players as this tournament generates a lot of excitement in the poker community.

My part time online blackjack dealer job

I have a part time job working as a blackjack dealer at a webcam based online casino. At first I didn’t think this job offer was a serious one let alone being a real job but so far it has been fun. The hours are very flexible and it is a different experience at my other job working at a land based casino dealing blackjack.

I prefer the online experience better since if the players get rude or abusive it’s easy to just turn off their chat. The bet sizes at the webcam casino are $10 to $500 and yesterday the table was filled with guys betting the lower limits and one player sat down and played $500 per hand.

The guy lost 5 hands in a row and thankfully the guy didn’t seem to mind and wasn’t blaming me for bad cards. The next hand I dealt out was a blackjack for the player and the whole table erupted. The next hand the player had 7 and 4 for a total of 11 and the dealer had 8. The player correctly doubled down and got a 10 while I busted. Unfortunately I didn’t get a tip but I had fun chatting with these players and I think some of them I will see again.

Next week I start training at the roulette tables but I’m not sure if I want to leave blackjack just yet.
