On Thursday, July 2nd at 7pm in El Dorado local workers and labor leaders will be holding a town hall to talk about the economy. Join us at the UA Local 706, 418 Main St. in El Dorado at 7pm.
The Fayetteville Fire Fighters Association will be having our annual 4th of July Crawfish and Shrimp Jubilee at the Elks Lodge in Fayetteville. The event is a fundraiser for The Fayetteville Fire Fighters Association Scholarship Fund. The event is sponsored by Bobby Odom. Everyone is invited.
On Saturday July 11th, national AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Rich Trumka will join hundreds of union and civil rights activists and faith leaders in a statewide caravan, march, rally & catfish fry to call for passage of the Employee Free Choice Act. Union members and faith leaders will caravan from Texarkana, Fort Smith, Fayetteville, and Pine Bluff to Central High School in Little Rock. There at 12:30pm, they will be met by members of the Little Rock 9, and Little Rock union and faith leaders for a rally that will connect today's campaign for workers rights and passage of the Employee Free Choice Act to our nation's struggle for civil rights. From Central High, Trumka will lead a march to the rally. After the rally, the Steelworkers Union will host an old-fashioned Arkansas catfish fry.
You are invited to the upcoming Southern School for Union Women, to be held August 27-30th at the Scarritt Bennett Center in Nashville, Tennessee. The overall mission is to connect with other strong women and share knowledge that will enhance both personal and professional goals.
